Hormonal hair loss : a change in the hormone balance can also cause hair loss. For example, it sometimes happens that you suffer from hair loss during the transition or just after delivery.
When your scalp secretes too much sebum, your hair can become oily. Your hair will then shine, sit flat on your head and feel sticky. In addition, your greasy locks can get an unpleasant odor. How does oily hair develop?
There are sebaceous glands in every hair follicle on your body. These glands are certainly there for a reason. They produce sebum to protect your body against infections and bacteria. So this is a natural process to keep your body healthy. When your sebaceous glands secrete too much sebum, you can suffer from an oily scalp, hair or even dandruff .
What are the causes of oily hair?

What can you do against greasy hair?
Unfortunately, oily hair does not bring out the best in you in terms of looks . Time to tackle your oily hair well! But how do you get rid of those greasy locks? Should you jump in the shower and wash your hair as soon as possible or should you just leave your hair alone? We have listed a number of tips for you to get rid of oily hair as quickly as possible.
Tip 1: use less shampoo, less is more !
Use only a small amount of shampoo per wash and do not wash your hair too often. By shampooing your scalp too often, you stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. This makes your hair fat faster. So it’s time to kick the shampoo off and wash your hair up to two to three times a week. This is more than enough to keep your hair clean.
Tip 2: set the temperature of your shower a bit colder
Heat stimulates the production of sebum. In summer you will notice that your hair becomes greasy faster than in winter. The solution: lower the temperature of the shower slightly. By showering a little colder you reduce the sebum production of your sebaceous glands.
Tip 3: take your hands out of your hair
Are you always fiddling or fidgeting your hair? Do not do it! Your hands are relatively greasy. So when you take a lock out of your face with your hands, your hair will only get oily. Do you have trouble keeping your hair off? Then tie your hair in a bun or tail.
Tip 4: do not massage your scalp
By massaging your scalp, you stimulate your circulation. Good blood flow causes an increase in sebum. So even if you still like a head massage, it is better to leave it for a while to get rid of your oily hair. Also try to massage your scalp as little as possible while washing your hair.
Tip 5: use dry shampoo, the invention of the century!
Do you find it difficult to postpone your washes? Then use a dry shampoo to refresh your hair when it is really needed. You can then spray a little dry shampoo into your hair mid-day, without having to shower extensively. Ideal! Just don’t use it too often, as dry shampoo also stimulates sebum production.
Tip 6: do not use a hot hair dryer or hair straightener
Although the heat of a hair dryer or hair straightener dries your hair at the bottom, it makes your hair greasy. As we mentioned above, heat stimulates your glands to produce sebum. So let your hair air-dry or blow-dry your hair at a low temperature setting.
Tip 7: eat healthy and drink a lot of water!
Greasy food can make your hair greasier. This does not mean that you should no longer eat fats at all . Unsaturated fats, such as fish or vegetable oils, are essential for a healthy body. Keep away from saturated fats, such as chips or butter. It is also important to drink a lot of water. This way you hydrate your scalp and your sebaceous glands do not have to produce sebum because of a dry scalp.
Which shampoo is best to use against oily hair?
